DJ with Live Saxophone in Los Angeles

Call (310) 343-2412

I'm DJ ART, a Los Angeles DJ and saxophonist. At most events you hire a DJ, and maybe a sax player, and hope they get along. With me it's one person. I run the DJ set and play live saxophone over it, so the sax always matches the track, the key and the energy in the room. Guests don't hear a background band. They hear a song they know turning into a live moment.

I've been doing this since 2015 at weddings, corporate events, galas, mitzvahs and private parties across Los Angeles and Orange County.

How DJ + live sax works

The DJ set is the base. I build the music around your crowd and your timeline, and I mix it live. When a moment calls for it, I pick up the saxophone and play on top of the track: a hook the whole room knows, a solo on the dance floor, a slow line over a first dance. Then I'm back on the decks without a gap in the music.

Sax works in two places:

  • Background: smooth, lower-volume sax during cocktail hour or dinner, often walking between guests instead of standing behind the booth.
  • Peak moments: sax over dance-floor tracks, the grand entrance, a product reveal or the last song of the night.

You decide how much sax you want. Some clients want it all night, others want three or four big moments. We set that during planning.

Wedding DJ and saxophone

For weddings, the DJ + sax format covers the whole day:

  • Ceremony: live saxophone for the processional and recessional, with ceremony sound and microphones. I've played sax at beachfront ceremonies as well as ballrooms.
  • Cocktail hour: smooth jazz-style sax among your guests while they have drinks and appetizers.
  • Reception: DJ and MC for entrances, first dance, toasts and parent dances, then sax on the dance floor and a live finish on your last song.

"He was also an extremely talented Saxophonist and it was such a fun element that he incorporated throughout the reception, both at dinner and on the dance floor. The cherry on top was when he played the sax to our requested final song of the night…" (Nizan, WeddingWire)

Already have a DJ? Book me for sax only

If your DJ is already booked, you can hire me as a saxophone player only. I play alongside your DJ for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner or the dance floor, and I improvise over whatever they play, in any genre. Before the event I coordinate with your DJ on the timeline, the songs where sax comes in, and the sound setup.

"We hired DJ Art to play saxophone during our wedding cocktail hour and on our wedding dance floor. He was able to work alongside our DJ and he could play the sax to any of the songs that the DJ played." (Katie, WeddingWire)

DJ and saxophone for corporate events

At conferences, galas, award ceremonies, product launches and brand activations, live sax gives the room a focal point without taking over the event. I keep the volume and the format right for each segment, from networking and dinner to the after-party, and I stay on the run of show.

"The music and live saxophone created an incredible atmosphere without ever taking over the event." (Bella M., Destination Concepts, Inc.)

Private parties and mitzvahs

Birthdays, anniversaries, boat parties and bar and bat mitzvahs get the same setup: a DJ set built for the guest list, with sax for the moments people film.

"Having live saxophone and additional entertainment made the entire evening feel like a real production." (Daniel A., Mitzvah Client)
